Survival

You are responsible for your character’s well-being. This means that at the very least you have to keep them alive. Four main stats determine a character’s well-being:

  • Hunger

  • Health

  • Energy

  • Mood

As time passes and life happens these stats will change. You’ll need to get resources and perform various actions to increase them - you can also just ignore them of course(sleep is for the weak).

Transportation

In the previous post, I spoke about locations being concrete and traveling being a big part of the game. So naturally we need to have a transportation system. At this point I have implemented four ways to travel in toplife:

  • Train

  • Bus

  • Taxi

  • Private car

Each of them has its costs in terms of money and time. A taxi will get you to your destination faster than a bus but it will cost more money.

Journal

Your character keeps a journal. This has a record of every action(your character is aware of) that happens in the game. This is a text-based simulation so communication is done through writing instead of visuals. The journal is a way to make sure you don’t miss anything because you can always pull up logs from any day.
